Konstantinos is the sweetest little boy, who has been struggling ever since he came into this world. The little guy was born extremely premature and he had to be immediately transferred to the NICU. During the first days of his life, he was touch and go. The doctors thought he wouldn’t make it, since he was diagnosed with post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, while a few days later he contracted meningitis  and was presenting with signs of sepsis. To everyone’s surprise however, little Konstantinos managed to win this battle and to finally go home, after 5 whole months!

Today, Konstantinos is 2 years old, and so far, he has had to overcome numerous obstacles, since he has been hospitalized in the PICU multiple times, while he also had to undergo a series of neurosurgical procedures. Due to his premature birth, his motor skills have been greatly affected. He is unable to walk, while he can barely move his arms. Since he is still not able to swallow properly, he only eats pureed food, while he also receives anti-epileptic medication and high calorie milk formula, since his muscles have severely atrophied due to the prolonged bed rest.

According to the neurologists and the developmental pediatrician who monitor his condition, the child needs to be immediately subjected to a physiotherapy program, which will allow him to regain muscle mass and to improve his motor skills and his respiratory function. At the same time, the family will need to procure a standing device, which is essential for strengthening his torso and his legs.

Over the past two years, little Konstantinos’ parents have been fighting their own battle in order to provide their little angel with everything he requires. Today however, they have reached a dead end, and they are unable to cope with their child’s ever-increasing, health-related expenses.
