An estimated one billion people around the globe is suffering from some kind of disability. According to the official UN data, 80% of these people live in developing countries. 

The equal integration of people with disabilities, in every aspect of social life, concerns all of us!

According to research, at least 27 million people are being subjected to modern forms of slavery, such as involuntary labor, child labor, human trafficking and human smuggling. The majority of these people are women and children!

Despite many centuries of struggle, unfortunately slavery hasn’t been fully abolished.

According to the World Health Organization, ”The only vaccine that has the power to protect us is prevention.”

Each year, on December 1st, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the AIDS pandemic and to educate people on the scientific progress that has been made against HIV.

A day to remind us that we need to stand up for ourselves and shout out “No”! We condemn every form of abuse against women, whether it is of sexual, physical, emotional or verbal nature!

Today, all forms of violence against women are being prosecuted!

If you know any women who are being subjected to violence and remain silent, you must encourage them to come forward and contact the nearest police station. 

In you are the one who is being victimized: 

Call 911 or visit the nearest police station. 

Visit a doctor in order to receive medical care and undergo a forensic examination. You must always be honest with your doctor.

Call the 15900 SOS help line of the General Secretariat for Family Policy and Gender Equality, in order to receive their services, such as legal counseling, psychological support and safe housing. 

Sadly, child abuse constitutes a current social phenomenon. By the term “child abuse and neglect”, we refer to any case of maltreatment, whether it’s of physical, emotional or sexual nature. Most child abuse occurs within the family, or by other caregivers. It is estimated that roughly 500 million to 1.5 billion children are being abused each year. It is also estimated that at least 275 million children all over the world, are subjected to violence in their own home.
